LIQUID LANDSCAPES @ Surrey Urban Screen - Photos © Site Photography

Inspired by photographs of seven geographic sites around Surrey (Serpentine River, Redwood Park, Crescent Beach, Nicomekl River, Boundary Bay, Serpentine Fen and Fraser River)

LIQUID LANDSCAPES features a series of seven digital animations translating each natural location into a series of colours, motions and shapes projected on the Surrey Urban Screen.

During the course of the exhibition (September 2018 - April 2019) seven local music producers and sound artists were invited to create audio responses for each of the animations.

Artists include Yu Su (You’re Me), J.S. Aurelius (Ascetic House), Jean BrazeauScott WoodworthBaby Blue (s.M.i.L.e), Venetta (NuZi Collective), and x/o (Quantum Natives, Eternal Dragonz, s.M.i.L.e)

During the month of April 2019, the audio responses from the invited artists were played each night alongside the animations.

LIQUID LANDSCAPES was curated by Rhys Edwards and was made possible thanks to the support of the Surrey Art Gallery, an exhibition essay written by Rhys Edwards is available here.
